Liverpool transfer news RECAP – New Bradley contract (2024)

Arne Slot could reportedly tie Conor Bradley down to a new contract in one of his first moves as Liverpool boss.

Bradley ended the season with 23 senior appearances, having recorded six assists and a goal against Chelsea in January. Meanwhile, the ECHO understands there is no Liverpool interest in Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins, despite contrary reports.

Meanwhile, Reds goalkeeper Alisson Becker is in Slot's plans for next season despite interest from Saudi Arabia, with Pro League clubs also said to be eyeing up Luis Diaz and Joe Gomez.

Caoimhin Kelleher, Darwin Nunez and Diaz all face particularly uncertain futures. Meanwhile, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk all see their contracts expire next year, so the club will surely be working hard to tie them down to new deals.

With regard to incomings, Rodrygo has been name-checked by many as a potential target. The Real Madrid winger will be placed under the microscope on Saturday night when Real Madrid lock horns with Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League final at Wembley Stadium.

So, with that being said, look back over all the latest news and transfer gossip below.

Liverpool must make Guimaraes clause decision

Liverpool have only one month remaining to activate the £100m release clause for Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes.

Guimaraes, who is under contract at St James' Park until 2028, agreed to this exit agreement when signing a new deal with the Magpies back in October and has presented an opportunity for major European clubs to secure his services this summer.

Liverpool are among the sides to have been linked with the Brazilian, who has been a major hit on Tyneside since arriving from Lyon in January 2022.

In a bid to fend off interest from Premier League teams and others such as Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain, Newcastle tied Guimaraes down to a new deal that included a release clause that will expires on a specific date in June.

Reds 'tracking' Chiesa

Liverpool are continuing to keep tabs on Juventus winger Federico Chiesa, says Give Me Sport.

The Italian could be on the move this summer with just 12 months left on his contract and a renewal yet to be agreed. His inclusion at Euro 2024 could delay discussions.

This comes amid reports that Luis Diaz is attracting from Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain and Saudi Pro League clubs. He still has three years left on his deal.

Liverpool 'handed' Koopmeiners boost

Liverpool are reportedly among the clubs looking to sign Teun Koopmeiners this summer. Arne Slot worked with the Holland international during their time at AZ Alkmaar.

Juventus, however, are also reportedly in the hunt for the Atalanta man, with speculation suggesting that prospective manager Thiago Motta is said to have made him one of their main targets.

However, apparently there could be a delay in the Turin club's pursuit of the European Cup winner given the fact they want to offload players first before a move is made.

Bradley 'in line' for new contract

Conor Bradley is apparently set to be offered a fresh deal by Arne Slot in one of his first contract decisions as Liverpool boss.

Bradley has enjoyed a fruitful and prolonged breakthrough season, ending the campaign with a goal and six assists in 23 outings. He still has three years on his contract having penned a renewal in December, but soon could be further rewarded for his hard work.

Teamtalk claims the 20-year-old will be tabled new terms amid thoughts that Trent Alexander-Arnold could get more minutes in midfield going forward, albeit will stay as the primary right-back choice.

Liverpool media watch

Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes will be available to leave Newcastle United if his £100m release clause is triggered before the end of June.

The 26-year-old Brazil international has been a revelation since signing for the Magpies from Lyon in January 2022. In total, his 86 appearances in the Premier League have returned 16 goals and 14 assists, and last season, he helped the Magpies end their 20-year exile from the Champions League.

As a result, Guimaraes has been linked with moves to Liverpool, Real Madrid, Manchester City and Arsenal this summer, and the midfielder has a release clause inked in his contract until the end of next month.

Liverpool make Crysencio Summerville decision

The Mirror have reported that Liverpool have decided to not make the move for Leeds United star Crysencio Summerville.

The Dutchman scored the goal that ended Virgil van Dijk's impervious home record at Anfield, under Jesse Marsch.

However, Liverpool are reportedly not among them.

Mirror reported: "Liverpool have also decided not to make a move for Leeds United star Crysencio Summerville. The Reds had been reported to be in competition with Chelsea for the Dutchman's signature."

Ollie Not-kins rather than Ollie Watkins

There have been some stories knocking around today regards Liverpool being interested in Ollie Watkins of Aston Villa.

The ECHO understands that there is not interest from Liverpool in Ollie Watkins of Aston Villa.

Colwill interest long-standing

A very warm welcome from the ECHO office here in Liverpool.

Not much new in that Alisson stuff - it was reported a while back Saudi want the goalkeeper while the Brazilian hasn't yet shown any sign of wanting to leave Liverpool.

And the admiration of Levi Colwill is long-standing, as was reported by my colleague Paul Gorst last year.

Not sure Chelsea would be keen to sell, but they might have to given their financial situation and PSR requirements. Oh, and that they have yet another new manager who will want to do his own thing.

But, until Arne Slot is in charge and has his feet under the desk, we won't really know who wants to stay and who could come in, and the transfer vacuum will be filled by the rumour mill. And the tittle-tattle is always relentless at this stage of the year.

Alisson latest amid Saudi Arabia interest

Alisson will stay at Liverpool, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The ECHO reported this month that the Reds were bracing themselves for another summer of Saudi Arabian interest.

A report claimed that the Brazilian shot-stopper was high on the list of some of the region's big-spenders.

The reporter has suggested that the 31-year-old is in Liverpool's plans for next season, despite the interest which is said to have originated in March.

Liverpool given green light for transfer

Leeds United chief Paraag Marathe has admitted that the club will have to cash in on some of their players this summer to stay in line with financial rules.

This could be good news for Liverpool who have been linked with an interest in Crysencio Summerville. The winger has been a standout player for Leeds and was named as Championship player of the season.

"It's a little too early for me to answer specific questions, it's still, what is it 36 hours or whatever since the final, so it's just I can't talk on specific players right now," said Marathe in an interview with the Yorkshire Evening Post. "But if I can paint the big picture for you, there are certain things that we need to do and we will make sure we are fully compliant with P&S, as we always have been.

“And there are certain trade-offs that we have to make and so we'll have to get to the drawing board and figure out which moves we have to make sure that we are compliant. It's too early to say. Obviously Archie (Gray) is a tremendous player, as are all of the players who put in so much effort for us, but you know, every season brings change and so I can't yet comment on it, but we'll see what happens."

Ways Liverpool can line up with Rodrygo transfer

Liverpool have been linked this week with a move for Real Madrid forward Rodrygo in the summer transfer window.

The Brazilian is facing an uncertain future at the Bernabeu as Los Blancos prepare to welcome high-profile free agent Kylian Mbappe to Spain. Should he arrive at the La Liga giants, it is expected Real shall need to sell a member of their forward line to make room.

Rodrygo's versatility across the forward line means there is more than just one option for how Liverpool could line up with him in the squad. The ECHO has taken a look at three ways the Reds may choose to utilise him.

Liverpool can secure £167m with seven transfer decisions

Now heading up the Reds' transfer department, positioned above sporting director Richard Hughes, Edwards will again be looking to work his magic during a transfer window.

During his own stint as sporting director, the 44-year-old made a name for himself due to his impressive signings and ability to generate large fees for players on the fringes of the squad. His most eye-catching deal remains the £142million package deal negotiated to sell Barcelona Philippe Coutinho in January 2018.

Slot coaching staff blow

Arne Slot could be given a blow in one piece of his coaching staff puzzle that he is completing at Liverpool.

The new boss looks set to be joined by Sipke Hulshoff as his assistant with Ruben Peeters also set to join the coaching staff.

Etienne Reijnen was also reported to be joining, but could face a problem. According to Dutch outlet AD, the coach does not hold the correct coaching qualifications, meaning that in Feyenoor he was given the title 'analyst and technical advisor' and watched the game from the stands.

The lack of the necessary badges could now be a problem in obtaining a work permit to join Liverpool. It means that there is a possibility that Reijnen could stay at Feyenoord.

Rooney's Alexander-Arnold demand

Former England captain Wayne Rooney has said that Gareth Southgate shouldn't play Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold in midfield during the Euros, with the full-back instead left to battle it out over a starting spot with Man City's Kyle Walker.

“I think with Trent, I’ve watched him play there a few times in midfield," he told the Overlap. "I think you lose a lot of his quality from full-back. Of course he picks passes from midfield.

“But I think he’s got to try and fight it out. I know Kyle’s probably the best probably the best right-back in the world at the minute.”

Wales boss on Lewis Koumas

Wales manager Rob Page has said that he couldn't ignore Jason's Koumas' breakthrough into the Liverpool first team, with the midfielder earning his first call up to the seniro Wales squad.

The nation suffered disappointment in their failure to qualify for this summer's European Championships, but are in action over the summer as they take on Gibraltar and Slovakis in friendlies.

Koumas is one of three uncapped players to be called up to the squad for the games, with Page explaining his decision.

“We’ve got to look to the future,” he said. “The games that we’ve got give us an opportunity to develop some of these younger players and expose them to the environment.

“They’ll get a taste of it so come September when we play the Nations League, and come next year when the World Cup qualifiers start, they’ve already had a taste of that experience.”

He added: "How can I ignore it when [Koumas] has done what he has done for Liverpool in the first team?"

Alisson transfer 'approach'

Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker has had approaches from a Saudi club in the last few months, but the Brazilian is expected to stay at Liverpool beyond the summer, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Speaking on his Youtube channel, the journalist said: “In the last few days we heard rumours on Alisson and proposals from Saudi.

“I’m told that there was some approaches around March, April for Alisson, trying to understand the situation around the Brazilian goalkeeper.

“The answer I got, as of now, and never say never in the market, but as of now, and of May, is that there was some approach, but Alisson is expected to stay at Liverpool.”

He added: “Liverpool are not planning to change the goalkeeper, they are very happy with Alisson, Alisson is very happy at Liverpool. He’s not desperate to change, he’s not looking for money.

“And so, at the moment, there is no expectation for Alisson to leave Liverpool in the summer transfer window for Saudi.”

Southgate 'excited' about Liverpool midfielder

England manager Gareth Southgate has explained his decision to include Liverpool's Curtis Jones in his provisional squad for Euro 2024.

The 23-year-old has had an injury hit campaign for Liverpool, but that has not stopped him earning his first call up to the senior Three Lions' squad.

“Curtis we watched all last summer with our under-21s,” he told the official England YouTube channel.

“He had very good spells during this season, then missed spells with an injury, a very unfortunate red card, and then at the end of the season just dropped out of Liverpool’s team.

“But we saw enough through the season to be excited about what he might be able to do and what he could bring to the group.”

The former Scotland international will officially start his role on June 1, after joining from AFC Bournemouth. But he has been involved with Liverpool in the interim as plans are made for the summer window.

Hughes spent years in the Atalanta's youth set-up, and retains an interest in Italian football, which could benefit Liverpool over the next couple of months.

Slot told bring Feyenoord star with him to Liverpool!

In an interview with OLBG, former Liverpool, Chelsea and Barcelona winger Bolo Zenden said: "There’s a few players at Feyenoord that have had a good season, there’s a few that could transmit the message of the manager into the team.

"But I also think that you don’t have to bring in too many players that you know from your club or your league. But there's probably three players that stand out a bit as we reach the end of the season, Quentin Timber, a midfielder, who is the brother of Arsenal’s Jurrien Timber.

Zenden added: "Another one guy is Lutsharel Geertruida, who's the captain for Feyenoord. He can actually play in three different positions, which means centre back, right back, or as a holding midfielder.

"Geertruida would be the best player to sign from the current squad that Slot would consider bringing to Anfield."

Liverpool 'like' Chelsea man

Liverpool have been linked with an interest in Chelsea defender Levi Colwill this summer, with Arne Slot keen to sign a left-footed defender.

The 21-year-old had been a regular in Chelsea's starting line-up under Mauricio Pochettino, but saw his season curtailed by a toe injury. He was an unused substitute for the final four games of the season.

He has also missed out on a place in England's squad for Euro 2024.

The Daily Mail's Kieran Gill claims that Liverpool 'like' the defender but are likely to come up against opposition from Chelsea who want the player to stay beyond the summer.

"It was a massive opportunity for me to be Liverpool’s No 1 for that long. It was my time to show the level I believe I can perform at and the level people at the club think I’m able to play at.

"I proved that I’m good enough to play in the Premier League — I’m comfortable there. I’ve always had that belief in myself. Proving it to people was satisfying."
