I genuinely only know like 2 or 3 players. A few years ago I could list your entire defense and most of your offense.

what happened to your roster?
Well, Mike Leach died.
The guy they hired to replace him sucked and was an idiot on top of that.
New guy, I know nothing about other than he was OK OC. I'm sure it will take him a bit to get into the recruiting channels.

Things tend do go to sh*te when you hire a DC to replace your HC who tragically died for continuity sake and said DC then decides to tear down damn near every thing the previous HC did.

Yeah the problem with the continuity hire angle is he didn’t “continue” with the offense, he implemented a new one that he didn’t have the personnel, much less the talent to run.
That was the single worst hire in recent SEC history probably going back to Arkansas bringing on Chad Morris who at least on paper at least might’ve worked.

State was in an impossible spot…I can’t bag on them for hiring Arnett. They were literally in unprecedented waters….

Love Leach but he didn’t recruit. He lived of Covid extra year defensive players.

Maybe but they didn’t have to let him make the call on the OC.
If they wanted to kick the tires on him you hire the best and most experienced OC you can find who actually runs your current system so you avoid living through a multi year rebuild.
